Chattahoochee Riverkeeper was looking for a way to take their annual Patron Event virtual, and we jumped at the chance to help. We’ve worked with Chattahoochee Riverkeeper for over 5 years, and we appreciate them so much – for the great work that they do for the river and for all communities along the watershed. CRK’s Patron Gala is normally a fancy dinner shindig at The Georgia Aquarium or somewhere along those lines. Since that’s definitely not happening this year, how do they bring in the donations needed to continue their important work? And how do they offer their patrons an online event that’s fun to watch?
We broadcast CRK’s Patron Experience live from the soundstage at Encyclomedia, using a projector to create a river-reminiscent background. CRK brought in MC and auctioneer Dean Crownover, and we were off and running. Encyclomedia helped with graphics like the event logo animation and the lower thirds. We produced a 30-minute waiting room filled with all kinds of content that would keep the viewer engaged before the event began. For the live event, we used a 2-camera setup that gave a little variety to the image. Our crew of 6 handled it all including direction, camera, audio, switching, graphics, video playback, and streaming. Whew.
