We shot a total of 9 days to produce a 20-minute overview video and 6 5-minute modules introducing Home Depot employees to Redbeacon and the Home Depot’s new partnership with them. We had the opportunity to work with one of our favorite producers—Joan Karpeles of Joan Produces, and we were able to pull in many of the talented members of the encyclomedia extended family to help out with the shoot days. Using the Canon 5D Mark II and the Panasonic HPX 500, we shot several days in a Home Depot store, a couple days at Home Depot Studios, one day on the encyclomedia soundstage, and one day in a home. The small size of the Mark II allowed us to move quickly in sometimes small spaces. It also works great with our fun toys like the jib and dolly which lend some movement to the piece. Encyclomedia handled all the postproduction, including the fun, transitional animation sequences crafted by Encyclomedia Motion Graphic Designer, Matt Sigmon.
Bonus points for spotting the Holland brothers in a rare b-roll shot together.
